As your dog gets older, its important to optimize his or her mobility. I find that nail cutters are much much harder to use than nail grinders, like this one shown. Most dogs don’t like the feeling of their nails cut and or feeling pressure on their nails. I also find that it is easy to cut the quick so I don’t feel comfortable using nail cutters.
I find that nail grinders seem to be accepted by most dogs I have cared for plus the sound of the motor can be smoothing to some dogs. Also, because you are grinding away slowly at the nail, it is not likely that you will cut the quick.
