I love senior dogs!!!
For over 12 years, I have been a proud volunteer for a senior dog rescue called Muttville based in San Francisco, CA , and I am even more proud to have been a foster mom for over 100 senior dogs. Yes, over 100!! I did adopt a few of my fosters. Ocean Blue, the senior Aussie mix on the homepage, is my sidekick and inspiration.
Why Senior Dogs?
For many years before I was a foster mom and volunteer for Muttville, I lived with my soulmate dog named Jazmin. She was with me until she reached the age of 15 years old. She was a German Shepherd who taught me so much about life and being an independent, strong person.
Caring for Jazmin in her golden years was not easy and it taught me so much. I loved her, and there was nothing that I would not do for her. When she passed away, I was devastated. In my neighborhood, a new dog rescue called Muttville had started less than a year before. I was immediately drawn to them. What a beautiful idea to specialize in rescuing older dogs!
Why Do I Want to Help Other Senior Dog Families?
I have learned so much in 12+ years about the special needs of senior dogs. I also have learned about many amazing tricks – some are life-saving – and helpful hints that aren’t always obvious yet can be easily found (and not always in the pet section!). It makes me happy to share my knowledge and expertise that I have gained from loving and caring for the 100+ senior dogs who I have been honored to share my home with.
If you ever have any questions, feel free to leave them below and I will be more than happy to help you out.
All the best,
